Command Master Chief Gary T. Loy
Master Chief Loy entered the Navy in December 1979 where he attended Basic Training at RTC, Orlando Florida. Following his initial training, he reported aboard the USS James Monroe (SSBN 622)(Blue), home ported in Charleston, SC. Forward deployed to (Holy Loc Scotland) from 1981-1985, completing 8 Strategic Deterrent Patrols in the North Atlantic.

Subsequent sea tours include, USS Henry L. Stimson (SSBN 655)(Blue), Charleston, SC (1988-1992)(7 Patrols), USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735)(GOLD), Kings bay, GA (1994-1997)(3 Patrols). In 1997 Master Chief Loy was assigned as the Chief of the Boat onboard USS MAINE (SSBN 741)(Blue), Kings bay GA. (1997-2001)(4 Patrols). During his tour, his Unit was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Squadron 16 Battle “E” and the Golden Anchor Award for Retention. He is entitled to wear the Gold SSBN Deterrent Patrol Pin for completion of 21 Deterrent Patrols. Shore assignments include; Sonar “A” School Instructor, San Diego, CA. (1985-1988), Tactics Department Leading Chief, Submarine Training Facility, Charleston, SC. (1992-1994). Prior to assignment to Carney he completed his assignment as the Senior Enlisted Advisor and CMC Liaison at the Center for Career Development, Navy Personnel Command, Millington TN.
